Losing, breaking or outgrowing an implant-retained denture can be worrying. You may still have implants securely in place, yet suddenly discover that replacing the denture is more complicated than expected.
This is particularly common when implants were placed abroad, many years ago, or by a clinic that has since closed. The implants themselves may be perfectly healthy. The difficulty is often identifying the exact implant system and sourcing the compatible components needed to connect a new denture to them. Unfortunately, implant components are not universal. A part that looks almost right is not good enough when it must fit precisely inside an implant in your jaw. Understanding this before treatment begins can prevent delays, unexpected costs and an uncomfortable period without a secure denture.

If you've found yourself searching online for "Do I need new dentures?", "Why are my dentures loose?", or "How long do dentures last?", you're certainly not alone. These are some of the most common questions we hear at The Swissedent Denture Clinic in London.
The interesting thing is that many patients assume they already know the answer before they walk through our door. "My dentures haven't broken, so they must still be alright." "I've just got to put up with them because I'm getting older." "I suppose all dentures become loose eventually." Sometimes they're right. Quite often, they're not. After helping thousands of denture patients over the years, one thing has become very clear. Knowing when it's time for new dentures isn't always obvious. In fact, the signs are often so gradual that many people adapt without even realising how much their dentures are affecting their daily lives. As Clinical Dental Technicians, we see both the clinical side of denture care and the technical side of manufacturing dentures. That gives us a unique perspective. We don't just see the finished denture. We understand why it has succeeded, why it has failed, and most importantly, whether replacing it is actually the right solution. |
