1st appointment - consultation, history, exam, primary impressions.
This first appointment initially starts with a 'Consultation', the Dental Professional will provide an introduction and ask you a series of questions. Whilst waiting you will fill in a 'Medical History' form. The Dental Professional will then start to ask you about your medical history, dentures and examine your mouth and dentures, from the information gathered, a diagnoses, treatment options, costs and treatment plan including appointments will be formed and will be discussed with you to give you an informed decision.
If you have natural teeth, a Dentist will need to be scheduled in on your next visit to examine your teeth and mouth before commencing onto treatment. The Dentist may request to see them prior to treatment at the Swissedent Denture Clinic.
if you agree to the treatment plan, you will then have to sign the treatment plan and then primary impression will be taken of your upper and lower jaws. Impressions are taken of your mouth with stock trays to get an imprint for the next stage and are used as a tool for more accurate imprints for secondary impressions .

2nd appointment - secondary impressions
From the primary impression, dental casts are made and a custom made special tray is made for your secondary impression, this provides a more accurate imprint of your upper and lower as the special tray is made exact to your mouth as stock trays are mass produce with small, medium or large.
3rd appointment - bite registration, shade taking
From the secondary impressions, a more accurate dental cast will be made. Wax bite blocks will be to obtain information and parameters on how you bite together and your facial features this is used as a tool for the next stage. The Dental Professional will present you with a shade guide to determine the colour of your new dentures teeth, once a shade has been agreed.
4th APPOINTMENT - TRYIN OF TEETH IN WAX
From the bite registration, a wax try-in will be made and your teeth will be in wax. The Dental Professional will preform checks on the try-in first and you will then get to see how the dentures will look, you can check the colour of teeth, size, shape, appearance. It is usually valuable if a trusted friend or family member is present to give a 3rd party opinion on how the dentures look.
The try-in stage is important, this is the stage the Dental Professional can make alterations and changes to the try-in. They can soften the wax and move teeth accordingly, because the 5th appointment would be the final fit of the denture and alterations will be limited.
If the try-in has severe alterations, another appointment called a re-try will have to take place to rectify alterations.

5th appointment - final fit
From the try-in, the final dentures will be processed and ready for fitting. The Dental Professional will preform the necessary checks and then present the dentures for you. The Dental Professional will verbally go over 'Denture Hygiene' instructions and print a 'Denture Hygiene' instruction sheet for you to take home.
6TH APPOINTMENT - REVIEW
The last appointment is left as a review, Swissedent Denture Clinic would like to know how you have got on with your 'New Denture' and the Dental Professional will examine the dentures and make any adjustments if necessary.
